History
The Evolution of Oxford Leadership Academy
In 1983, Brian Bacon created a management consulting arm of the US advertising giant DDB Needham, which later became International Pacific Consulting (IPC). In the early nineties, Brian developed the 'Strategic Focusing' model, integrating strategic business planning with leadership development and executive performance management, as well as 'The Eye of the Storm' executive coaching programme to focus top management. IPC's Self-Managing Leadership programme was also incorporated into Strategic Focusing and formalised as a culture change process. A non-commercial form of Self-Managing Leadership (SML) was later created as a free community service. This period involved major international consulting and leadership development programme assignments incorporating Strategic Focusing and SML (for example, with the top 500 global leaders of Volvo), and the pioneering of the Oxford Leadership Development programme.
The growth of Strategic Focusing
The late 1990s saw significant expansion of Strategic Focusing, and the incorporation of Self-Managing Leadership in major corporations and public sector agencies. Oxford IPC Worldwide was subsequently appointed by President Vicente Fox and the Government of Mexico to support the Governmental reform process. This involved conducting Strategic Focusing and Self-Managing Leadership with over 25,000 Government officers, including the Office of the President and many Federal Ministries. People and culture change consulting processes were also undertaken with the Governments of Brazil and Chile.
Supporting Global Turnaround
In 2003, Oxford IPC supported McDonald's people-and-culture-centred global turnaround strategy, which included developing the company's 'Plan to Win' Strategic Focusing process, and personally mentoring CEO Charlie Bell and the European and Global management teams.
Formation of the Oxford Leadership Academy
The Oxford Leadership Academy was later formed in the UK, Denmark and Hong Kong to provide integrated leadership and executive development programmes. Throughout the new millennium, the Oxford Leadership Academy has expanded rapidly, attracting major consulting and executive development assignments such as: McDonald's Europe, Coca Cola, Unilever, Barclay's, BP, Telefónica, Girl Scouts USA, Fortis, Horwath International, Akzo Nobel, Layetana and Sandvik.
The Innova Award
In 2007, Oxford Leadership Academy received the 'Innova Award' from President Fox for services to the Mexican Republic during his term in office.

Future Developments
Oxford Leadership Academy has recently entered an exciting phase of up-scaling and development for a major global expansion of Academy operations in 2009/10. Alongside the constant development of our leadership training programmes, we are actively engaging the next generation of leaders with our Oxford Leadership Youth Programme. This is designed to help young people to be more aware of their own potential and also of their responsibility to society.
